Mustafa has found his dream job as a truck driver. He works outside, no one looks over his shoulder and he is home every day around 2 p.m. He gave up his job as a hairdresser for it. The best decision ever.
As a hairdresser, Mustafa worked indoors. Clients and colleagues were literally watching him all day. Around age 27, he felt this job was not meant for him. He started working as a driver on a box truck through a temp agency. Because they wouldn’t give him a permanent contract, Mustafa has to look for a new job after 3 years.
A permanent contract within 6 months
Mustafa decides to get his CE driver’s license at his own expense. He then calls HJ Bakker and can start there immediately. After only six months, Mustafa gets a permanent contract here. “I’ve been working here for 14 years now” he says, “at this moment for DM Logistics and I’m never leaving. It’s a great company with chill colleagues.”
About Mustafa’s work
As a CE driver, Mustafa drives a Volvo LNG truck all over the Netherlands. He transports clothing to stores from famous brands. His day starts around 3am. After supplying up to 6 customers, he is usually back in Roosendaal around lunchtime. To compensate for colleagues’ days off, Mustafa sometimes drives to Belgium, Germany or France. |
As a driver, you have a lot of freedom
Why does Mustafa enjoy his work so much? On the one hand, it’s the work on the truck, he explains. “In transport you always work outside, you only see your customers. When you come back you have contact with your colleagues and you leave early for home after leaving everything tidy. You get told by the planner where to start tomorrow and don’t have to worry about anything else.”

Nowhere better
As a truck driver, the jobs are there for the taking. So how is Mustafa so sure he never wants to leave DM Logistics? “The colleagues are extremely nice. Everyone helps each other and there is good contact via the app. And DM also does a lot for us. They really want us to stay healthy and provide a lot of comfort. For example, with electric pump trucks and extra comfortable chairs.”
Laughing, he continues “sometimes colleagues leave only to come back after a year, here it turned out to be better after all. And I hear from new colleagues that they are positively surprised by how things work here. So why would I ever hesitate? No way, if DM continues like this and I stay healthy I want to work here for years to come.”
