As DM Logistics head of planning, Rudy makes sure freight gets from A to B. He enjoys challenging situations where it seems impossible to get everything planned. When he still manages to get the job done, he feels invincible.
Making the impossible possible
In 2015, Rudy started as a planner. He has since become the head of planning. By his own admission, he knows 99 of the 100 addresses DM drives to. It is precisely this practical knowledge that enables Rudy to manage schedules that seem impossible on paper. By shuffling routes and drivers, the freight still arrives on time.
Customer is king
In the heat of the moment Rudy sometimes can overreact, a sign of his commitment. When he closes the door at the end of the day, he wants the puzzle to be right, the routes to be optimized and the drivers to have a nice schedule. But most and for all, he wants to be sure that the freight will be delivered as agreed when the order was accepted.
“My job comes with a lot of freedom. Enough time for a little fun in between. And if you work extra hours you can go home early on Fridays, for example. As long as the job is done of course. For me a happy customer is a happy head of planning.”
Time flies when you’re having fun
Rudy looks at a bright future. He wants to transfer his knowledge to new colleagues. This means he has extra time for organizing, seeking for new loads and exploring routes. For Rudy, variety, challenging work and nice colleagues are the key ingredients of a job he loves.
