For years, Krisje dreamed of a career as a truck driver. At DM Logistics, that dream came true. Until her wrists disrupted everything. Due to hypermobility, she suffered pain and had to stop driving. Despite this setback, Krisje remained optimistic and eagerly accepted our invitation to become our very first night coordinator.
Dream shattered
Previously, we shared about the new truck Krisje received. She obtained her C-license and transitioned to truck driving, but soon faced wrist issues. Her tendons were overstretched and inflamed. Continuing this work was not an option due to the recurring risk posed by hypermobility.
Staying at home is not an option
At least, not for Krisje. She was eager to get back to work, preferably at DM Logistics. “I enjoy working for DM. It’s a great employer. Even now, you see everything works out,” explains Krisje. After a month at home, Krisje visited the office for coffee and expressed her desire to work. She was asked to cover for the planner during his vacation, which went so well that director Sander Bogers suggested she become Exintra Group’s first night coordinator. “It has been a rollercoaster,” says Krisje, “but I knew I had to seize this opportunity.”
New career as night coordinator
As a night coordinator, Krisje is the first point of contact for clients and colleagues during the night and morning. If a driver is sick, Krisje finds a solution. If a driver is facing a closed warehouse, she contacts the client to resolve the issue quickly. This benefits clients, drivers, and the customer service team, who no longer get woken up by late-night calls.
Krisje’s day starts early: at 3 AM on Mondays and Thursdays, and between 5 and 7 AM on other days. She loves it, “I’m home early in the afternoon and can enjoy the sun. Yes, I go to bed early, but I was never one to sit on the couch in the evenings, so this schedule is ideal for me.”
Of course, Krisje misses driving. “I must get used to being indoors. In the cab, I was alone; now I have people around me in the morning. So, I sometimes look for tasks where I can be alone for a bit. Occasionally, I still do a short drive if a driver is unavailable, which I enjoy!”
Krisje is looking for colleagues
The night coordinator role has been a great success. Therefore, we are looking for a second night coordinator to alternate night and day shifts with Krisje.
Krisje is clear about what she seeks in a new colleague: “Someone who enjoys variety, stays calm under pressure, and can think logically. When you decide to change the schedule, it must work out. It’s helpful if you have experience in the logistics sector, but it’s not necessary. You must speak both Dutch and English because we operate internationally.”
Deploying Krisje as a night coordinator was a perfect match. We are happy she can continue her career with us this way. Are you as ambitious as Krisje and looking for a new challenge in the logistics sector? Check out the vacancies below. We would love to meet you.
